I was born in Englewood, New Jersey in 1947 and lived in Rutherford until 1960 when my family moved to Englewood. In 1965 I graduated from Deerfield Academy and then from Yale College in 1970 with a BA in History. I received an MFA in graphic design from the Yale School of Art in 1976 and moved to Blue Hill, Maine where I had summered with my family since childhood. In 1978 I moved to Deer Isle, Maine where I continue to live.
